WATER BIOSENSE BUOY

SEActive Innovation AIE

In collaboration with:

Water biosense® Buoy

SEActive Innovation AIE is the result of the integration of technology and joint efforts to develop a marine buoy capable of monitoring the quality of bathing water at beaches in real time, covering both the detection of microorganisms that indicate fecal contamination and the measurement of key physicochemical parameters. This solution has been validated through a pilot project at Valdelagrana Beach in El Puerto de Santa María (Cádiz), demonstrating its effectiveness and reliability in a real operating environment.

Microbiological indicators of fecal contamination

E. coli

Considered one of the most relevant indicators of fecal contamination, its presence in high concentrations reflects the potential risk to human health.

Enterococcus

Along with E. coli, it is one of the best indicators of fecal contamination, internationally recognized for its ability to predict the presence of pathogens associated with wastewater.

Key physicochemical parameters for water quality

Temperature

It helps to understand the environmental conditions of the marine environment and their influence on the growth of microorganisms.

pH

An essential indicator of the chemical balance of water, it affects the availability of nutrients and the survival of various microorganisms.

Conductivity

It allows the salinity and ion content of water to be assessed, influencing its overall quality and the distribution of microbial species.

Turbidity

Reflects the presence of suspended particles (sediments, organic matter, microorganisms), impacting the transparency of the environment.

Features of the Water biosense® buoy

Beachfront installation

It is strategically located to collect representative data on the actual state of bathing waters, in line with shipping routes and tourist areas.

Autonomy

It operates autonomously and sustainably thanks to photovoltaic panels that guarantee a sufficient energy supply.

Automatic measurements

Performs automatic and continuous analyses, providing up-to-date information on water quality.

Regulatory compliance

The measured parameters comply with current regulations, facilitating health monitoring and evidence-based decisions.

Remote transmission of data and alarms

It provides real-time remote information and allows alerts to be programmed to detect significant changes in water quality, facilitating a rapid and effective response.

Benefits for beach management and users

Avoid unnecessary closures

The system provides real-time remote information and allows alarms to be programmed to detect changes in water quality, facilitating a rapid and effective response.

Periodic regulatory analysis

The smart buoy provides continuous data that complements routine analyses, offering a more comprehensive and dynamic view.

Safety for citizens and coastal environments

The use of accurate data improves decision-making, which reinforces confidence and water quality, thereby enhancing the visitor experience.

Application in desalination

Information on seawater quality helps desalination plants, improving the safety and efficiency of supply.

Collaborations and synergies

SEActive Innovation AIE was born from the strategic alliance between Tecysa and Innovia, whose combined capabilities enable the development of high-value technological solutions for the marine environment. In addition, the participation of SensActive Technology reinforces the innovative nature of the project, ensuring a robust, reliable response that is fully adapted to the current and future demands of the sector.
